The Sunken Prairie Golf Club is the newest high end club in the Midwest located in Webster, South Dakota. It will not only offer a world class 18 hole golf course designed by Smyers, Craig, and Coyne but also a superb clubhouse, fine dining, comfortable lodging, as well as premier hunting and fishing packages amongst other amenities.
The Sunken Prairie resides 5 miles south of lovely Webster, South Dakota. Webster is conveniently located about 23 miles west of the Interstate 29 corridor. It connects to the interstate via U.S. Highway 12 and also interjects with Highway 25.

Here, creativity met opportunity. What started as a joking conversation has now turned into the biggest golf project South Dakota has seen to date. Meet the team that is bringing you the all encompassing Sunken Prairie Golf Club.
Riley is a fifth generation farmer working with his family at Reetz Farms. He graduated from South Dakota State University with degrees in Agricultural Science, Ag Business, and Agronomy. Now back on the farm, he wants to combine his love of golf with his farm, thus creating Sunken Prairie Golf Club.

Wyatt comes from a strong agricultural and construction background. He also raises cattle, operates a native seed company, and manages large-scale civil construction projects. A graduate from South Dakota State University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering he will lead the construction team. He now looks to combine his experience shaping and managing the land with his love of golf to help create one of the premier golf courses in the Midwest.
Growing up on a golf course in southeast South Dakota, Blake never imagined he would one day become part of a world-class golf destination—let alone be its first founding member.
With a lifelong passion for both golf and pheasant hunting, joining Sunken Prairie was an easy decision when the opportunity arose.
After college, Blake spent five years living in Webster, where he developed a close friendship with the Reetz family. At Wyatt's family's annual crawfish boil, he first heard Riley share the vision of building a golf course on the family farm along the shores of Reetz Lake. The moment Riley described the concept—and mentioned the renowned course architects he and Wyatt had been meeting with—Blake immediately recognized the potential.
The idea resonated even more because of Blake's connection to golf writer Tom Coyne. Just nine months earlier, Blake had traveled through Ireland with Tom, spending five unforgettable days playing some of the world's greatest links courses. Their conversations about golf, architecture, and what makes a truly special golf experience gave Blake a unique appreciation for the vision taking shape at Sunken Prairie.
Blake's passion for pheasant hunting runs just as deep as his love of golf. Having hunted nearly every corner of the Reetz family farm, he knows the landscape as well as anyone. That firsthand familiarity with the property only strengthened his belief that it could become something extraordinary.
Today, Blake is proudly all in on Sunken Prairie. He's passionate about sharing the vision and welcomes the opportunity to visit with anyone interested in learning more about membership and what makes Sunken Prairie such a special place!

Steve Smyers, Colton Craig, and Tom Coyne,
International Golf Course Architect Firm
Steve, a seasoned golf architect with nearly 50 years in the industry, has held pivotal roles including president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects and served on the USGA’s executive committee. A University of Florida graduate and member of the 1973 NCAA National Championship team, Steve is also an accomplished amateur golfer, winning the 2008 Senior Crump Cup. His career has taken him around the world, designing courses on all six continents. Over the years, Steve and Colton Craig have bonded over their shared passion for golf architecture.
Colton, an Oklahoma State graduate with honors in Landscape Architecture. Colton’s journey includes winning the prestigious World 100 Club Architectural Fellowship, which allowed him to study over fifty legendary links courses in Scotland. At 25, Colton started his own design firm, marking the beginning of his journey. In 2019, Colton met Tom Coyne at Southern Hills during his “A Course Called America” tour. Colton caddied for Tom, and by the 17th hole, the two had already agreed to collaborate.
Tom, an award-winning, New York Times bestselling author and editor of The Golfer’s Journal, brings unique storytelling expertise to the team. “Tom is one of the most well-traveled golfers of all time, and his passion for golf architecture makes him a rare and valuable asset,” said Steve. Tom, who holds a master’s degree in creative writing from Notre Dame, echoed Steve’s sentiments. “What drew me to Steve was our shared respect for golf and our common values. Steve is the man—we’re lucky to have his wisdom in our corner,” said Tom.
